The Hills Choir is an incorporated, not for profit organisation based in Mundaring, in the Perth Hills area about 35 kilometres East of the City of Perth in Western Australia.
The Choir began in 1986, and is still going. We do two concerts a year, and also participate in other events such as Songfest.
Music
The choir sings a wide variety of music, both a capella and accompanied, ranging from folk songs, madrigals and spirituals to large choral pieces, sometimes accompanied by a small orchestra. We include sacred, secular and humorous songs in our concerts.
Membership
Anyone is welcome to have a go at singing with us. You don’t have to be able to read music, and you don’t have to be a Pavarotti or Sutherland to be able to sing with us. There are no auditions for membership – the main requirements are a love of music and a willingness to work within a group and to learn. Come along, introduce yourself, and have a go. After a few weeks you’ll be asked to become a member if you decide to continue with us.
Rehearsals
Our rehearsals are every Monday night at 6:30pm, in the Uniting Church, Stoneville Road, Mundaring, opposite the shopping centre. A few times a year we skip a rehearsal, so it’s best to contact us if you are thinking of coming.
