Who we are
The Hills Choir is an incorporated, not for profit organisation based in Mundaring, in the Perth Hills area about 35 kilometres East of the City of Perth in Western Australia.
The Choir began in 1986 and 40 years on, is still going strong. We do two concerts a year and also participate in other special events throughout the year.
The choir sings a wide variety of music, both a capella and accompanied, ranging from classical choral and folk songs, madrigals and spirituals, jazz and classics to large choral pieces and more modern pieces. We include sacred, secular and humorous songs in our concerts.
Membership
Anyone is welcome to have a go at singing with us. You don’t have to be able to read music, and you don’t have to be a Pavarotti or Sutherland to be able to sing with us. There are no auditions for membership. The main requirements are a love of music and a willingness to work within a group and to learn. Come along, introduce yourself, and have a go. After a few weeks you’ll be asked to become a member if you decide to continue with us
Rehearsals
Our rehearsals are every Monday night at 6:30pm, in the Uniting Church, 120 Stoneville Road, Mundaring, opposite the shopping centre. A few times a year we skip a rehearsal, so it’s best to contact us if you are thinking of coming.
Meet our Music Director, Storme Reeves
Storme has dedicated her life to sharing the joy and transformative power of music. A lifelong singer, songwriter and musician, she studied singing at the Western Australian Academy of Performing Arts, specialising in classical voice, before forging a career as a performer, composer, music producer, recording engineer, music educator and sound therapist. She has released 7 albums and multiple singles over the years in popular, meditation and modern contemporary music. Her passion for harmony, authentic expression and community shines through in everything she does. For nearly ten years, Storme has been the heart and soul of our choir, inspiring members with her warmth, encouragement and musical expertise. Her leadership has created a welcoming environment where singers of all abilities can grow in confidence, develop their voices and experience the joy of making music together. We are deeply grateful for her dedication, creativity and the lasting impact she continues to have on our choir community.
